Soon to drop, our new eco range!!!
Hi #Pipspeople !!!
We come baring exciting news, our new eco inspired range dropping soon...
COVID related delays have been inevitable. Social distancing regulations in the workplace, production issues and general overload on supply chains in the lead up to Christmas, has sloweeedddddd our launch somewhat.
We have worked so hard to bring you this new range, that we're not going to let it stop us releasing, even if it's late.
As I have said to all of you with pre-orders; I can only apologise, the delays are out of our hands, everyone is overloaded and doing their best. The fact that you continue to support a small business during this time is insane to me and I am so very grateful.
THE RANGE-
We're always looking to adapt and grow, it's been a long process to upgrade our current practices to something we're happier with using. We're also always open to suggestions and feedback. 🤙
The products we are using have full Global Organic Textile Standard certification, ensuring traceability and accountability from field to our bodies. GOTS is the more stringent certification, as it also includes the health and wellbeing of those involved in the supply chain, creating transaction certificates at each stage.
Organic cotton farming uses 91% less ground water and has a 46% less impact on global warming.
The sweaters we will be using are topped up with recycled polyester, to ensure more robust structures are woven into the cotton. The recycled polyester, reduces energy use in the manufacturing process by 33-53%.
We are aiming to reduce the global impact of single use plastic products that account for approximately 450 million metric tons produced a year. Recycling and reusing these items, slows down the flow of the 9.5million tons of plastic thrown into the ocean annually.
We are NOT down with this!!!! Hence why we've decided to make a change. 🦦
Our chosen clothing has the Fear Wear Foundation certification. This is in place to ensure the workers have better working conditions and more choices.
There are 8 bases of FWF; freely chosen employment, no exploitation of child labour, no discrimination in employment, payment of minimum wage, reasonable working hours, legally binding employment relationships, freedom of association and safe and healthy working conditions.
One of the amazing things about our chosen supplier, is they provide childcare on all their sites in Bangladesh and most have scholarship programmes for school age children
THE SCREEN PRINTING PROCESS-
We've swapped our printing team from one using traditional chemical based ink, to a chemical free and water based product allowing us a further boost towards our goals. The water based ink has a Oeko-Tex Class 1 standard certification, it is solvent, free and certified organic with the Soil Association.
The inks do not contain CFC's; HCFC's, aromatic hydrocarbins or volatile solvents, no white spirit, lead or heavy metals.
Water based inks are a notorious pain to work with, they clog the screens and air dry faster than chemical based products but we found the masters of their craft, having been the pioneers of this new way of life since 2005. This ink is hard wearing, bright and soft to wear. Our new water based ink won't leave a rough feeling on the material, it's softer and lighter.
We are proud to be making waves in the environmentally friendly world, hitting mega milestones in our journey. Our clothing now qualifies for their prestigious fair wear and PETA approved vegan certifications. FIST BUMP. We use recyclable products wherever possible in our packaging, we buy from local businesses and recycle any waste. ---
Let's make waves together,
As ever; stay safe, stay well, stay AWESOME.
